One of the most common complaints couples have is:
“We have communication problems.”
It seems that this is actually some sort of code for struggling with a relationship problem. You feel like your partner isn’t listening or doesn’t understand you. Or you feel disconnected because your partner won’t express how he or she is feeling.
Some couples can talk well, but can't manage to talk at all about feelings or about sex.
Learning how to deal with conflict, how to fight fair, how to resolve your differences, is what counselling is all about. The changes should be palpable if the therapy is working.
