What kind of therapy does Dr. Bianca Rucker do?
Individual therapy, couples therapy and sex therapy:
“I use a brief but in-depth systemic therapy approach based on the Satir Model. With couples who have difficulties with intimacy or sexual desire discrepancies, I use an approach to therapy called the Sexual Crucible Approach, which is a powerful way to effect change in couples. For problems of sexual functioning I may incorporate behavioural sex therapy strategies, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and specifically designed homework.
For some clients I incorporate mind-body approaches such as clinical hypnosis and mindfulness (focused states of awareness, relaxation techniques, and visualization). I am on the executive and teaching faculty of the Canadian Society of Clinical Hypnosis (CSCH – BC Division) teaching psychologists, physicians, and other health professionals and my work is featured on the CSCH training DVD.
Neuroscience research has shown us that even as adults we can change patterns in our brains and improve our lives and relationships. Therapy is one of the best ways to get changes happening, be they major or minor. In basic terms, I help clients handle and address difficult personal situations. Clients are able to solve problems and experience significant positive growth.
I see clients from all walks of life. I am always respectful and discrete, keeping my work with each and every client confidential.”
